GPT-6 Astra Can Actually Drive a Browser: Pick the One Click-Job Worth Handing It This Week

What shipped. OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra on September 3, 2026. API pricing is $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output, roughly 2.5x its predecessor GPT-5.6 Sol at $4 and $20. Context window is 1,050,000 tokens, max output is 128K, knowledge cutoff is April 30, 2026. ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise get access on a rolling basis, and it is live in the API and on AWS.

The part that matters to you. Computer and browser use. Astra scores 72.6% on OSWorld 2.0, the benchmark for driving a real desktop and browser, and finishes those tasks about 47% faster than the model before it. In plain terms: it can open a vendor portal, click through the menus, and pull what you asked for, at a hit rate that is finally worth a human supervising.

The move this week. Pick exactly one click-job. Good candidates:

• Pulling weekly numbers out of a portal that has no export button.
• Downloading carrier, lender, or supplier statements on the first of the month.
• Copying job data between two systems that will never integrate.
• Checking 30 competitor or supplier pages for price changes.

Time the task by hand first so you have a number. Then hand it over and watch every step of the first three runs before you let it go unattended.

Two guardrails.

1. Give it its own login with the narrowest permissions the system allows, and read-only wherever that is an option. Your admin, banking, and payroll credentials stay out of it.
2. Keep bulk work on the cheap model. At 2.5x the price, Astra earns its cost on hard multi-step tasks and wastes it on drafting emails.
